Dieselhed | Elephant Rest Home (Bong Load)
A regular drinking buddy of an album from Dieselhed. The spirit of Gram Parsons resides in the Red Chair, whilst the Stones' country leanings lie easy on the Futon Song (which could squeeze comfortably into Exile On Main Street) and modern-day folk from Wilco to The Handsome Family would willingly find space on their couch. Naked, sparse and darkly humorous ('I'm sorry for drawing moustaches on your porn mags, I know you've been collecting them for years'), like a twisted southern cousin of Scud Mountain Boys' Pine Box, Elephant Rest Home collects the minutiae of small-town life and dresses it up in loose-fitting acoustic, twang and slide.
