A one-sided 12" seven track single, 'The Home Service' is the labour of Wisdom Of Harry's Pete Astor and State River Widening's David Sheppard, who together make Ellis Island Sound. Where rhythmic guitars bleed into playful beats, EIS create a dizzying ride along the lines of Stereolab taking the funk to Labradford. With added use of smart samples and happy handclaps. On Chop3 and the perfectly titled Bontempi Rain Effect, they even weld the chatter of Tele:funken to the undercarriage of Neu! Whatever their destination, Astor and Sheppard's discovery of the Ellis Island Sound has brought sparkling treasures.
