The Dandy Warhols | We Used To Be Friends (Capitol)
We Used To Be Friends is going to be a hit. The band have got Nick Rhodes on board for quirky production cred, while the perpetually sneery and too-cool-for-school Courtney Taylor-Taylor has scooped up all the writing credits, leaving the rest of the group on the backseat. Well, whatever- it's a nippy little pop-rock anthem bursting with all the right hooks to make the kids go wild in damp & dingy indie clubs, and will probably join The Donnas in the Top 40. It's just a shame, because in finding a formula that 'works', The Dandy Warhols have lost everything that made them interesting.
