The Chinatowns | A Painting Pinpoints Living (Dragwin)
A self-financed two track second single from a hotly-tipped young Tyneside trio, this is a charmingly naive blast of lo-fi alt.pop, like 'Dirty'-era Sonic Youth armed with only a miniscule recording budget but bags full of gusto. Led by Ben Wilson, The Chinatowns rattle and shake with the nervous tick of riot grrrl, plotting energetic tunes that get in, get the job done smartly, and then proceed to get out of there as quickly as possible. Six minutes of marvellously melodic mis-perfection are contained here.
