Papa M/Entrance | Orange World/See For Yourself (Tiger Style)
The latest split single to feature David Pajo's Papa M features his intriguing and excellent solo voice and guitar track, Orange World, a dream narration delivered in a semi-spoken, Howe Gelb-like style over a tremulous backing. Entrance, aka twenty-one-year-old Guy Blakeslee, (former bassist for Baltimore's The Convocation Of...) is 'blessed' with a three octave vocal range and his See For Yourself sounds like an outtake from Led Zeppelin IV. This is the kind of overwrought, indulgent mess that has the art house crowd all aquiver, and even Chan Marshall appears to have been duped. On this evidence, I'd recommend a couple of lessons at the Jeff Buckley swimming school pronto.
