I Am Robot And Proud | Grace Days (Catmobile)
Never trust a press-release, barring one which describes a record as a "faberge-egg", perhaps. The alter-ego of Canadian resident Shaw-Han Liem, I Am A Robot And Proud is an alias which barely serves his music justice. For no matter how many machines are employed here, 'Grace Days' is full of human heart. Slow and fragile, yet with a certain joyful abandon, I Am Robot And Proud emits electro-pop with playground beats and softly-stroked guitars, like Isan lacing-up a pair of suitably dapper dancing shoes. And what it lacks in variety, it makes up for in spirit, particularly on the uptempo charge of Mexico City and the lethargic longing of Her Version. A faberge-egg of a record, indeed.
